Added a new text for Christmas: 'He bowed the heavens and came down...': Reflections on the Nativity of Christ. Drawn from the liturgical texts of the feast, this new text explores the meaning of the union of God and man in the Incarnation, and the true mystery implied in the confession that human nature has been 'endued with a portion of the nature divine'.

Added Severus of Antioch's Objections to the Council of Chalcedon: A Re-Assessment to the Christological Controversy Study Area. This new study by Tenny Thomas examines the nature of Severus' objection through a study of key terms: ousia, hypostasis, hyparxis, and physis; driven by the desire to understand the grounds on which Serverus would object to Chalcedon on what seem, to some, Chalcedonian principles.

Added Theosis and the Work of Christ: A beginner's introduction to the thought of Clement of Alexandria to the Patristic Studies area. This study examines St Clement's sacramental and metaphysical conceptions of divinisation in light of the teaching role of Christ.

Opened the Orthodox Books Review for beta testing and submissions. Work is not complete on the interface for this new area; but it is being opened for access by those interested in authoring reviews to be included in the final release.

Upgraded the navigation bar on the left-hand side of each page on the web site to include drop-down menus for users of various newer browsers.

Updated the database for the A Word From the Holy Fathers... page, which now included an additional 50 quotations for a total of over 300.
Began updates of the Great Lent Area for the current year. Dates now reflect those of the Great Fast for 2003, and relevant documents/entries have been similarly updated. The Great Lent Area is routinely updated throughout the Fast, with new and revised materials being made available each week.

Added Early Christian and Byzantine Music: History and Performance - a study on the history and practice of Orthodox music of the Byzantine style, tracing its origination and historical development. The text also discusses practical issues relevant to modern day chanters and choirs wishing to develop their musical praxis within the Church's theology of worship.

Pre-ordering of the Great Lent 2003 Resource CD-ROM is now available online. This new collection contains an extensive set of resources for the Great Fast, about which you can read in great detail. All proceeds support the Monachos.net operating costs, as well as two Orthodox causes.

Added a new document, A Brief Word on Celibacy, to the Monasticism Area. This letter deals with the proper Christian view towards celibacy as one of the spiritual gifts of God -- a view which it is becoming ever more important to reinforce in the face of growing societal uneasiness and outright rejection of the validity of intentional lifelong celibacy as a healthy, wholesome manner of life.
